The Penthouse, located at the foot of 1st Avenue and Cherry Street in downtown Seattle, opened its doors in 1962 and for the next seven years hosted a veritable who's who of jazz greats including Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane, Little Richard, and Aretha Franklin.
